Dr. Brent Carmack
Doctor Brent W. Carmack is Board Certified and is an M.D. As a medical doctor and an eye surgeon, he is interested in educating patients about their eye health and no patient leaves his office with unanswered questions. He is aggressive about diagnosing disease and when required, treats with the latest medical and surgical technology. He strongly believes in being available to his patients and referring physicians and is happy to answer questions or see patients at any time. Despite his availability, he is committed to seeing his scheduled patients in a timely manner.
Dr. Carmack graduated Summa Cum Laude at the top of his class from Washington State University after being offered scholarships to several schools out of high school. He went on to earn his M.D. at the University of South Florida where he scored in the upper echelon of the nation during his medical licensing exams and was awarded The Clinical Professors Scholarship given to two students each year. He also won the USF Research Day Award as a third year medical school and was able to publish multiple research papers in prominent journals. Following this eight years of premedical and medical school studies, he spent one year at Tampa General Hospital and the Haley VA Hospital as an intern and then another three years as a resident at The USF Eye Institute. As a resident, he was chosen as a speaker at ARVO regarding his work on determining the efficacy of photodynamic therapy laser penetrating blood in the treatment of wet macular degeneration. In addition to this twelve years of training, he vigorously follows any advancing technologies to better provide for his patients. An example of this is being one of the first doctors in the country to use bifocal lens implants and astigmatism lens implants to help his cataract patients live without glasses.
